Meet the Choir Director

Nikki Smith holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree in music education. She has been teaching private lessons since 2016 and in schools since 2021.

During her tenure, she has directed the musical Aladdin Jr. and served as the musical director for productions such as Annie Junior, Alice in Wonderland, Hadestown, Mary Poppins and Seussical Junior. 

Since the age of eight, Mrs. Smith has been actively involved in various performance groups, including multiple Show Choirs, Varsity Choir, Chamber Choir, Women's Choir, Mixed Choir, and has participated in numerous musicals.

Teaching at The Vanguard School has been one of her greatest accomplishments as her students have traveled and had great success. In 2024, the High School and Chamber Choirs received two Superior Rankings at the Best of the West Music Invitational in Grand Junction, CO. The Chamber Choir also took home the Overall Top Choir Award. Her students have had the opportunity to perform I Want to Know What Love Is with Foreigner, travel and receive Superior Rankings in Canon City, CO, and have rehearsed and performed original works with the renown Z. Randall Stroope, who commissioned a piece for The Vanguard School Choir students. Her students have consistently made it into All-State and ACDA Regionals/Nationals.

Nikki is a member of ACDA, SWACDA, NAFME and CMEA.
